Nicky qualified with a BSc
honours degree in herbal medicine from the University
of Westminster in 2001. She has subsequently gained a
master’s degree in research. She practises from
a wooden building, formerly part of a Victorian cricket
pavilion, in the garden of her home in Hampton, Middlesex.
She belongs to the herbalist’s professional body
- the College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy. |
She is able to write about
the herbalist’s approach to ill-health and the benefits
it may have over orthodox medical treatment. She can discuss
its scope, the nature of the consultation, the type of
treament, its likely outcome, and the suitability of treatment
of particular conditions by herbs. |
She is a member of the Medicinal
Receipts Research Group, an academic group which is involved
in researching medicinal and culinary recipes from the
past. Her research skills enable her to read old manuscripts
and historical texts |
